The Bike Train is an independently coordinated, promoted and ticketed service, utilizing existing passenger trains and schedules. To facilitate the Bike Train service, a baggage car with bike racks installed onboard is added to select VIA Rail departures accommodating up to 56 bikes. Each Bike Train ticket includes a passenger seat and bike rack reservation.
The Bike Train will operate on select VIA Rail departures between
Toronto ’s Union Station and Niagara Falls Station from June to September 2008.
The existing VIA Rail train schedule allows for short day trips to
Niagara . You will enjoy more time cycling if you choose to stay overnight. Explore the agricultural bounty and biodiversity of Niagara’s
Greenbelt , or plan a multi-day bike tour along the 140km Greater Niagara Circle Route. There are many accommodation options available.
Children 0-11 travel free (one child per paying adult). A $5 bike transport fee is charged per departure for children with bikes.Additional child price is $29.50 round-trip or $17.50 one-way including taxes and fees.
VIA Rail will not be taking any Bike Train reservations directly.
If you have a non-standard bicycle, bike trailer or are travelling with children under 11 years old, please call the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce at 1-888-619-5984 to make your ticket order, as availability is limited and children’s rates may apply.
