Don't miss this truly authentic Canadian concert, illustrating our combined British and French histories, adding some references to our American relations. July 1, 9 pm in Queen Victoria Park, by the Falls. Music Director, Daniel Swift, interjects brilliant and amusing commentary into our concerts, and our audiences emerge at the end of the experience feeling they have not only enjoyed a wonderful concert by a talented orchestra, but have also learned new things about our shared experience together. On loan from the Shaw Festival, actors Guy Bannerman, Patty Jamieson, Lorne Kennedy and Goldie Semple return to the Niagara Historical Museum for their third summer of morning readings.
New this year is “Victoria and Edward Send Their Best”. The extraordinary and lengthy reign of Queen Victoria spawned some of the most famous and beloved literature of our times. Indeed not only was it an era of incredible and delightful writing, but the wit, music and manners, not to mention the exotic exploits of the members of the ever expanding empire, provide a fantastic treasure trove of treats to entertain us more than a century later. “Victoria and Edward Send their Best” is an hour-long kaleidoscope of life in the 19th century.
Presented by the Niagara Historical Museum in its continuing Voices at the Museum series, the performances will take place on July 14th, 21st and 28th at 11:00 am. Tickets are $15. Two other new performances have also been added to the Voices program for August, September and October.
The Museum is located at 43 Castlereagh Street in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake. Please contact the Museum at 905-468-3912 for tickets or information or visit our website for other performance dates. www.niagarahistorical.museum.
