Event Information
Give Back While You Celebrate
The Candlelight Stroll is a gift to our community, and this year, we invite you to make the season even brighter by helping those in need. As a free-to-attend event, we believe in the power of giving back. That’s why, in partnership with Newark Neighbours, we are collecting food donations to support families in our community this holiday season.
We encourage all attendees to bring non-perishable food items to share with those who need it most. Your generosity will help fill local pantries and spread warmth and hope to our neighbors. Every can, every box, every contribution makes a difference.
Parking
Parking in town is free for the month of December! We recommend parking at Fort George located at 51 Queen's Parade. From Fort George, it is an 18 minute walk to the Historic Courthouse. We are offering a complimentary shuttle between Fort George and the Historic Courthouse from 5:00pm to 9:00pm for your convenience.

A Tradition of Light and Community
At the heart of our Candlelight Stroll is a powerful moment that reflects the true spirit of the holiday season. Each recipient begins by lighting their own candle, a personal symbol of hope and warmth. From there, the magic unfolds as they pass the light to others, one by one, until all candles are aglow, representing the power of community and the way kindness can grow when we come together.
As the candles illuminate the path, they remind us that even in the darkest of times, the light we share with one another can brighten the world. Join us for this unforgettable experience and be part of a living tradition that celebrates the beauty of togetherness and the joy of the holiday season.
2024 Candlelight Stroll Recipients
THE KAZEMI FAMILY
Meet the Kazemis: Asadullah, Mahdia, Ali (age 18 months) and Zahra (age 3 months). This NOTL family is from Afghanistan and recently fled the Taliban, embarking on a harrowing 47-day journey to Canada. Despite these challenges, they arrived in Niagara-on-the-Lake seeking safety and a better future. The family hopes to become self-sufficient but needs support to overcome obstacles like housing insecurity and reliable transportation to support services. Donations generated from this year's Candlelight Stroll will help the Kazemi Family rebuild their lives and provide a safe and stable environment for their young children.
