The Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival is a premier winter event celebrating our region's renowned Icewine. Set against the picturesque backdrop of beautiful and historic Queen Street, the festival offers a unique and immersive experience for visitors. Visitors have the opportunity to sample a diverse array of exceptional Icewines  expertly created in the heart of Niagara by 18 local wineries. Visitors can indulge in culinary delights and cocktails that complement the distinct flavours of this cherished Canadian specialty wine.  Capture enchanting moments in the picturesque setting with various Instagrammable moments throughout the festival. The festival features live entertainment, ice sculptures, and cooking and mixology demonstrations , creating a festive atmosphere that highlights the rich cultural and culinary offerings of Niagara-on-the-Lake during the winter season.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival takes place over two wintry weekends in January. The gorgeous Heritage District sets the stage for a magical experience. The Icewine Village becomes a historical winter wonderland with delicious Icewine from over 18 local wineries and delectable food pairings from world-renowned restaurants. The Icewine Festival will be held outdoors on Queen Street.

There will be free admission to the Icewine Village and this year we are going cashless/tokenless! You'll be able to tap at the restaurant and wineries of your choice.


There will be an outdoor stage with live music entertainment, guest speakers on the history of Niagara Icewine, and cooking and mixology demonstrations to highlight the diversity of Icewine.

Did you Know?

Icewine Edition

Niagara-on-the-Lake produces 90% of Canada's Icewine and produces 80% of Icewine internationally.


Icewine production started in the 1980s in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Icewine became Canada's 'Liquid Gold'.

Red Icewines are made from Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes, while Vidal is the most popular white grape varietal for Canadian Icewine.

Grapes for Icewine must only be harvested when they are frozen naturally and the temperature must be -8 C (20°F) or below.
